Mitchell Starc, Australia’s top fast bowler, was seen in the audience at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30, supporting his wife and the Australia team captain Alyssa Healy in the Women’s ODI World Cup semi-final against India. The duo, who is often referred to as the “power couple” for their strong mutual support in men’s and women’s cricket, were again the center of attraction when Starc took a day off from his busy routine to support Healy in an essential match.
But the Australian captain’s evening did not turn out as he had hoped. Healy, who was returning from calf injury, got out after scoring only 5 runs, thus providing India with an early break through in the clash of the titans. The wicket made the home team aggressive and the ecstatic Navi Mumbai crowd erupted in cheers.
Healy’s bad luck on the main stage even with Starc’s support. The early incident put Australia under pressure, with experts Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield going together to calm the innings in the crucial semi-final.
