Amid the ongoing three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand, Team India’s star fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has received great news. For the first time, Miyan Bhai is set to become a captain. Siraj has been appointed as the captain of the Hyderabad team for the remaining matches of the Ranji Trophy.
Hyderabad will play their last two matches of this season on 22 and 29 January at their home ground, against Mumbai and Chhattisgarh respectively.
Till now, Tilak Varma was leading the Hyderabad side, but he recently underwent surgery for testicular torsion. Along with this, he may also be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Due to his unavailability, Hyderabad decided to hand over the captaincy to DSP Siraj.
Although Siraj has no prior experience of captaining at the professional level, his exceptional performances in red-ball cricket for India have earned him this responsibility.
