Young pace bowler Kranti Gaud is one of those players who is starting to establish herself in the international format. Gaud is part of the Indian cricket team that is playing the T20 World Cup in England. The 23-year-old has played two games in the tournament and has yet to pick up a wicket.

Speaking to JioStar recently, Kranti got emotional recalling her formative years, which were filled with struggles. The cricketer recalled the massive role played by her mother, which enabled her cricketing ambitions. “Family support is very important; what others say doesn’t matter because they don’t help you in any way. Always grateful to my family for standing with me and supporting my dreams. There were plenty of problems, including a shortage of money.”

The Indian cricketer also said, “Mother had to sell her jewellery to buy me a cricket kit. That sacrifice was massive. Whatever my family did started to make me more responsible. Wanted to give something back to them and make every sacrifice feel counted.”

UP Warriorz star also said that the support from her near and dear ones helped her in realizing her cricketing dreams. “Many girls didn’t get a chance to step out, but my parents were different. I was never made to feel that I was doing something, and I got every support possible to make my dreams come true.”

There are plenty of young girls who are taking up the sport, which makes me proud. Parents are also allowing their children to believe they can make it. That World Cup changed everything.”
