Nayeem Hasan the young Bangladeshi cricketer was allegedly beaten by the law enforcement officials at Chattogram on Friday night and immediately authorities took notice providing massive support for him from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials.

Report states that Nayeem Hasan who had just arrived from playing Dhaka Premier League was stopped while he was returning to his house and according to allegations he was abused both physically and verbally even after identifying himself as an international cricketer. It took place in the Lalkhan Bazar area of Chattogram where Nayeem was stopped.

Nayeem’s brother Sabbir Hasan then filed an FIR at the local station and demanded for action against the culprits which was later followed by immense support from all the members of Bangladesh cricket fraternity.

Nayeem Hasan Speaks Out After Incident

Speaking to the media after filing the FIR Nayeem claimed he wasn't sure about their identities and expressed his sorrow with whatever has happened.

He stated:

"I told them who I am, but no one wanted to hear. They thrashed me using sticks and pipes. The moment I told them who I was the officer-in-charge without a second thought told me to just look down and speak".

Nayeem claimed while he also urged for the perpetrators to be punished severely: 

"Why would police officers take me to a CNG instead of a police car? I want a proper investigation," 

His words generated much anger across Bangladesh.

Police Act, BCB and Tamim Iqbal Extend Support

The Bangladesh Cricket Board along with several other members and a high profile figure in the game Tamim Iqbal have pledged their full support for Nayeem Hasan while also ensuring that he receives justice and no stones are left unturned.

According to reports, a particular officer known as Sohel was arrested for being part of the whole incident and as the story continues two officers have been suspended. The Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police promised strict actions if the wrongdoings were proven.

BCB president Tamim Iqbal himself issued a firm statement regarding the issue:

"What happened with Nayeem Hasan last night is utterly unacceptable and it does not reflect how we want our officers and men to behave ever. The moment Nayeem informed me and called me last night my colleagues in the BCB and I have been in touch with the authorities making sure Nayeem gets what he deserves.

he claimed :

"The BCB has already issued a written statement protesting the incident. Whatever is necessary to do will be done by us. We are with all our cricketers always,"
