Overview

  • Pat Cummins picked his combined India-Australia ODI XI and snubbed Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and others
  • Glenn Maxwell did not pick a single English player in his India-Australia-England combined ODI XI
  • Mitchell Marsh snubbed the likes of Glenn McGrath, Rohit Sharma, Ricky Ponting, and other major players from his India-Australia-England combined ODI XI

Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh recently chose their India-Australia-England combined ODI XI. While Marsh and Maxwell picked their combined India-Australia-England ODI XI, Cummins gave his Indo-Australian ODI XI. The list had some interesting selections along with some major snubs.

Most notably, in all of their XIs, there were major players who would be an obvious pick but didn't seem too obvious. None of their teams had someone who played ODIs in red ball, barring Sachin Tendulkar with a little exposure. Some of the teams hardly featured an English in the XI, while others had their unnecessary inclusion, provided better options.

Mitchell Marsh's XI

Mitchell Marsh had easily the most weird XI among all three. He picked David Warner and Adam Gilchrist as his openers and demoted Sachin Tendulkar to number 3. Marsh further demoted Virat Kohli and Joe Root to numbers 4 and 5 respectively, while snubbing quality players like Rohit Sharma and Ricky Ponting in the process.

He even snubbed MS Dhoni by including Michael Bevan and Andrew Symonds at 6 and 7. Marsh's bowlers were Anil Kumble, Darren Gough, Jasprit Bumrah, and James Anderson, snubbing legends like Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, and even Mitchell Starc in the process.

Glenn Maxwell's XI

Glenn Maxwell made a very good XI which had Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma as his openers, followed by Virat Kohli as his number 3. Maxwell's middle order had Ricky Ponting at 4 and Michael Bevan at 5. His All-rounder and wicketkeeper were Shane Watson and MS Dhoni, respectively.

In his XI, Maxwell picked four proper bowlers in Brett Lee, Anil Kumble, Jasprit Bumrah, and Glenn McGrath. While Maxwell indeed snubbed some great players like David Warner, Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, and others, the most obvious ones made the cut.

Pat Cummins' XI

Unlike Marsh and Maxwell, Cummins picked the India-Australia combined ODI XI. The Australian pacer picked David Warner and Tendulkar as his openers and had Ricky Ponting at number 3. In the middle order, Pat picked Steve Smith and Shane Watson at numbers 4 and 5, successfully snubbing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the XI.

Cummins' finishing unit was loaded with Michael Bevan and MS Dhoni. The four bowlers in his side were Brett Lee, Shane Warne, Zaheer Khan, and Glenn McGrath. The major absentees in his bowling lineup were Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and others.
