Last time these two sides met earlier in the season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the game produced everything. 529 runs for the loss of six wickets. Massive century from a batter, dramatic scenes on the field due to a player getting injured, and a world-record chase in T20 cricket. In that game, a total of 49 boundaries and 33 sixes were hit. One can expect yet another high-scoring encounter when the two teams meet in Dharamsala on Monday.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) had raced off the blocks and, at the halfway point of the season, were the only unbeaten side in the league. Three losses in their last three games have brought the two-time IPL finalists crashing back to earth. To add to their woes, Punjab have one of the worst fielding records after having dropped a plethora of chances in the last few matches. The batting remains strong, but the bowling too has faced its fair share of problems due to the inconsistency from their pace bowlers.
Delhi Capitals (DC) as a team have failed to perform despite possessing some star names. The biggest problem in the last few games has been their batting, and the team seems to have lost their confidence after getting bowled out for a mere 75 against RCB. Axar Patel’s form with the bat and also with the ball has been very woeful, and there will be massive questions being asked at the end of the season. Despite all the troubles, the Capitals will want to win the game and give their fans something to cheer about.
Mitchell Starc vs Priyansh Arya
The battle of two aggressive southpaws will be a great spectacle for the fans who will be watching the action with intent. Starc can swing the ball at quick speeds and has a good record against left-handed batters. Priyansh Arya, on the other hand, would like to be aggressive and dictate terms against the much more experienced pacer. The southpaw likes to score runs at a quick pace, and his strike rate this season shows the danger he possesses with the bat in hand.
Lungi Ngidi vs Marcus Stoinis
Pacer Lungi Ngidi has left many batters confused with his change of pace with the ball this season. The seamer has been at his wily best with the ball in hand and has earned DC wickets at crucial junctures. Stoinis will be a key player for the Kings due to his power hitting in the death overs. The battle between these two players can be entertaining as well as a chance for some high-quality cricketing exchange between two talented players.
KL Rahul vs Arshdeep Singh
Veteran KL Rahul has been the best batter for Delhi and is in the mix to finish as the leading run-getter this season. In the last game, between these two sides, Rahul had scored 152 not out to record the best score by an Indian batter in T20 cricket. Arshdeep Singh has been in focus not just for his off-field activities but also for his inconsistency with the ball. The left-arm seamer will be keen to bounce back and dismiss the dangerous Rahul early and hand his team a much-needed early advantage.
