Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar has won the toss and elected to bowl first in Match 1 of IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The toss took place at 7:00 pm IST, with the contest set to start at 7:30 pm IST.
"We will bowl first as it is a season opener. There are a lot of positives from last season. We will try to defend our title. There are a lot of good players in the side, and there is back up for the injured players. I want to thank our fans for supporting us," Rajat Patidar said.
SRH skipper Ishan Kishan would have bowled first as well.
"Feeling good as it is our first game. We would have bowled first as well, but it doesn't matter, as you will have to bat and bowl well to win a match. The plans are clear, and the players will have to execute in the middle," he said.
