Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are stepping up their training for the Australia ODI series, starting with a nets session on October 16. The two batsmen legends practised one beside the other for around half an hour, getting into action right after they arrived in Australia. Kohli and Rohit were among the first batch of Indian players to reach the country, while the second batch came in on Thursday.
During the session, Kohli and Rohit were seen talking to the coaches, with Rohit conversing with coach Gautam Gambhir and Kohli strategizing with bowling coach Morne Morkel. The two stars also had fun with their fellow players, including Arshdeep Singh. The Indian team has training sessions on Friday and Saturday before the first ODI on Sunday.
The series with Australia that is coming up is a major landmark for Kohli and Rohit, as they have already stepped down from Test cricket and T20Is. The 2027 World Cup will be the next one to be held, and this series will be the starting point of the cycle, which may be the last time Kohli and Rohit play in Australia. India will engage in three ODIs with Australia in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney on the dates of October 19, 23, and 25, respectively.
