Rohit Sharma, the former captain and star batter of the Mumbai Indians (MI), has become the subject of growing speculation regarding a potential move to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026.

With Abhishek Nayar now at the helm as KKR’s head coach, rumors have intensified about the possibility of Rohit rejoining his mentor. Their long-standing relationship has fueled discussions, although a move to KKR still appears unlikely at this point.

Rohit Sharma has been an integral part of Mumbai Indians (MI), leading the team to five IPL titles and becoming a symbol of their dominance in the tournament.

MI took to social media to confirm that Rohit will not be parting ways with the franchise before IPL 2026. Along with other key players like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, Rohit will continue to represent Mumbai Indians in the upcoming seasons.

Following the announcement of Abhishek Nayar’s appointment as KKR’s head coach, Mumbai Indians (MI) shared a post on social media featuring a photo of Rohit Sharma, accompanied by a caption with a pointed message.

“Sun will rise tomorrow again ye toh confirm hai, but at (K)night… Mushkil hi nahin, na mumkin hai,” MI posted in Instagram.

The caption, written in Hindi, clearly conveyed that there’s no possibility of Rohit leaving MI for KKR. The message took a dig at KKR in a playful manner, quoting a famous line from Shah Rukh Khan’s Don. It’s worth noting that Shah Rukh Khan is also a co-owner of the Kolkata-based franchise.
