Shubman Gill will lead India for the first time in an ODI during the series against Australia, starting October 19. He replaced the veteran Rohit Sharma, who was sacked by the BCCI just before the tour. Although Virat Kohli and Rohit returned to the team, there are speculations that the Australian tour may be their last series.

The Indian team has arrived in Perth to prepare for and play the first contest under a new leader. Kohli and Rohit will play their first international match since the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Before the departure, Rohit met Gill. “Arre Gill! Kya haal hai?” Rohit said.

The second and third ODIs will be played on October 23 and 25. The five T20Is are scheduled from October 29 to November 8.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Harshit Rana, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Shreyas Iyer, Dhruv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were spotted at the Delhi airport.

Virat was in magnificent form in the Champions Trophy, while Rohit was named the Player of the Match for his 76 runs in the final of the tournament.

They were expected to play in the Test series against England, but the two announced their retirement.
