Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan added to another huge IPL record in Gujarat Titans' clash against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. The opening duo matched Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle's long-standing partnership record for the second-most century stands in IPL history.

The record was registered in the 52nd match of IPL 2026 on Friday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Batting first after Rajasthan Royals elected to bowl, Gujarat Titans openers Gill and Sudharsan once again provided a roaring start to their team. The pair added 118 runs for the first wicket before Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for 55 in 36 balls by Yash Raj Punja in the 11th over.

At the time the partnership ended, Gill was on 50 off 30 balls, and GT was at 118/1 after 10.5 overs.

Gill and Sudharsan Joins Elite List

After the century stand with Sudharsan, Gill and Sudharsan now have nine 100+ partnerships for the first wicket in the IPL. The opening pair is now level with Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle's partnership record for nine 100-plus stands for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Only the legendary RCB pair of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers (10) are ahead of them.

Over the last few seasons, Gill and Sudharsan have been an exceptional opening combination for the Gujarat Titans, with the duo being one of the most effective pair of openers in the IPL currently with their consistent strokeplay and aggressive intent.

Their partnership against the Rajasthan Royals laid another base for a huge total at Jaipur.

Most Century Partnership in IPL History

Sudharsan played a fluent and explosive knock of two sixes and four fours before his departure while Gill continued to show his class with yet another half-century.

The opening partnership also helped Gujarat Titans amass 82 runs in the powerplay, piling on the early pressure on Rajasthan Royals.

As they are both in form and appears ready to serve GT for a longer period, Gill and Sudharsan stand good chances to go past Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and occupy top place in the century partnership list in IPL.
