Sai Sudharsan suffered a hand injury while taking a catch to dismiss John Campbell in a dramatic moment on Day 2 of the second Test between India and the West Indies in Delhi on Saturday, October 11. Campbell was dismissed for 10 runs off 25 balls, with the tourists losing their first wicket at 21.

The incident occurred in the 8th over of West Indies’ first innings. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off stump, and Campbell attempted a slog sweep. Sudharsan, positioned at forward short leg, caught the ball while trying to protect himself. The ball lodged in his hands and was stabilized with the support of his helmet to complete the catch.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir appeared amused by the unusual dismissal, sporting a rare smile as the team celebrated their first wicket. Following the incident, Sudharsan left the field for medical attention after injuring his fingers, with Devdutt Padikkal coming on as a substitute fielder.

India Claim Early Wicket After Declaring At 518/5 vs West Indies

Team India got off to an early breakthrough by dismissing John Campbell on Day 2 of the second Test, following their declaration at 518/5 in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the batting with 175 runs off 258 balls, hitting 22 boundaries, before being run out in a risky attempt.

India captain Shubman Gill continued his excellent form, remaining unbeaten on 129 from 196 deliveries, with 16 fours and two sixes. Contributions also came from Sai Sudharsan (87 off 165), Dhruv Jurel (44 off 79), Nitish Reddy (43 off 54), and KL Rahul (38 off 54).

For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 98 runs in 34 overs. In reply, the visitors were 26/1 after the tea break, with Alick Athanaze and Tagenarine Chanderpaul at the crease. The team captained by Shubman Gill secured a commanding victory in the series opener, winning by an innings and 140 runs.
