The 2026 T20 World Cup has proven challenging for Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub because he currently cannot establish his playing rhythm. The player achieved a batting average of only 14 after participating in five matches.

The player who bats in the top order also performs part-time spin bowling became successful in the ICC tournament by taking five wickets. The player failed to meet expectations since he produced batting scores of 7, 14, 6 and 19 while playing his regular top-order position.

The World Cup marked Ayub's highest achievement when he scored 24 runs. The player shows improved self-assurance because he performed well for Karachi Whites during the 2026 National T20 Cup.

Ayub has shown batting difficulties across all formats during the last few months. His previous significant performance took place against Australia when he achieved 56 runs in February. Most of his batting performances outside of that match resulted in scores between 20 and 30 runs.

Ayub reached his most recent significant achievement in November 2025 when he scored 77 runs against South Africa during an ODI match. His performance has varied since that time although he has maintained his status as a top-order batsman for Pakistan in T20I and ODI matches since 2024.

The same inconsistency followed him into the T20 World Cup. Ayub currently maintains a strike rate of approximately 137 during the tournament yet Pakistan required their top batsmen to show strong batting intent at that moment but he failed to deliver that performance.

Ayub has demonstrated his batting abilities during the ongoing National T20 Cup which is Pakistan's most important domestic tournament. He achieved a fast half-century for Karachi Whites by scoring 50 runs off just 28 balls. Ayub opened the tournament with a score of 33 runs off 25 balls against Faisalabad Region. He achieved his next score by making 53 runs off 33 balls against Bahawalpur Region.

The Karachi Whites successfully completed their 186 run target when Abdullah Fazal and Ayub opened the batting. Fazal made a steady 25 from 21 balls, while Ayub attacked before rain forced a temporary stoppage. Ayub played aggressively by hitting seven fours and two sixes during his innings. He scored runs quickly against bowlers Mohammad Azab and Daniyal Hussain Rajput.

Bahawalpur captain Muhammad Imran Randhawa experienced difficulties during his two overs in the National T20 Cup match because he allowed 14 runs to score against him. Ayub's home matches show positive results but his World Cup results remain a problem. Many people think he achieves his runs against inexperienced bowlers because he fails to perform at international competitions.

Pakistan selectors have also left Ayub out of the squad for the upcoming Bangladesh ODI series. The series will start on March 11 with Shaheen Afridi serving as the team's captain. Ayub contributed with the ball as well. He took two wickets during four overs but he allowed 43 runs to score against him in that time.

Bahawalpur batter Haider Ali experienced a disappointing performance which resulted in his scoring only seven runs. The three players who batted together as a group included Mohammad Faizan Zafar and Mohammad Akram and the team captain Randhawa, who helped their team to achieve a total of 185 runs.

The all-rounder who possesses great potential will use domestic cricket as his main focus because he currently exists outside Pakistan's national team plans. His upcoming matches will determine his potential to achieve international success after he establishes himself through his performance in the National T20 Cup which he aims to dominate.
