Sanju Samson has now claimed the record for the most sixes by an Indian wicketkeeper in T20Is, surpassing MS Dhoni’s previous mark. Samson has hit 55 sixes in 48 innings, going past Dhoni, who hit 52 sixes across 85 innings. Rishabh Pant ranks third with 44 sixes from 66 innings, while Ishan Kishan has hit 36 sixes in 32 innings.
Samson was opening the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma before the Asia Cup, where he scored three centuries. However, with Shubman Gill’s comeback, he has been batting in the middle order in the Asia Cup 2025.
Samson has consistently showcased his powerful hitting during the middle overs. In the Super Over victory over Sri Lanka on Friday, he played a pivotal role, contributing 39 runs while batting at No. 5. His innings included sixes, and his knock helped India to post 202 for 5 in their 20 overs.
His ability to hit sixes makes him a key player for India as they gear up for the Asia Cup final against Pakistan on Sunday.
