Vikas Kohli, brother of Team India batting star Virat Kohli, shared a sharp message as the former prepares for his international comeback in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. On Instagram, he posted a story criticizing people who have too much free time to spread misinformation and fake news. The exact reason behind the post remains unclear.
Fans have been closely following Kohli’s preparations in Australia, where he was seen practicing ahead of the first ODI in Perth on Sunday, October 19. This match will mark his first appearance for India since the Champions Trophy 2025 final in March, following his retirement from the other two international formats.
It will also be Kohli’s first competitive outing since RCB’s triumph in the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad. Below is a screenshot of the Instagram story shared by his brother.
“I am not surprised about so much misinformation and fake news going around these days. Some people are so free and have lots of time to do so… Good luck to you guys.”

At 36, Virat Kohli will be eager to start strongly in the opening Perth ODI, as India aims to build early momentum. The lively pitch at Optus Stadium is expected to challenge the Indian batting lineup.
Meanwhile, the prolific right-handed batter is just 54 runs shy of surpassing Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (14,234) to become the second-highest run-scorer in One-Day Internationals. With 14,181 runs to his name, Kohli would trail only his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) if he overtakes the Sri Lankan legend.
The former Indian captain is also the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs, achieving the milestone in 287 innings. Kohli will be eager to perform strongly in the series Down Under, as it will play a key role in keeping him in contention for the 2027 World Cup.
