As the Indian team gears up to compete against South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup final on Sunday, November 2, two industrialists from Surat have made a touching announcement. Esteemed diamond magnates Govind Dholakia and Jayantibhai Narola, proprietors of Shree Ramkrishna (SRK) Exports, have proclaimed that should India secure the trophy, every cricketer will receive natural diamond jewellery and rooftop solar panels as gifts.
They stated that this initiative is intended to uplift the players' spirits and celebrate their journey of determination and excellence.
The announcement has ignited excitement throughout the country, further enhancing hopes for India’s historic victory. Dholakia officially communicated this commitment to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) via a formal letter, in which he expressed profound admiration for the team’s bravery, discipline, and dedication to the sport.
“As our Indian women’s cricket team enters the ICC Women’s World Cup final, my heart swells with pride. These women have won the hearts of billions with their strength and spirit,” Dholakia statement read.
Dholakia further mentioned that SRK Exports would be privileged to present each member of the victorious team with handcrafted natural diamond jewellery as a gesture of gratitude, along with solar panels for their residences, symbolizing that the light they bring to the nation continues to illuminate their own lives. He also remarked that winning the World Cup would signify a significant achievement not only in Indian sports but also in the advancement of women’s empowerment.
“Their victory will inspire generations of girls to dream, emerge, and shine,” Dholakia said.
Born in Dudhala village of Amreli, Gujarat, in 1947, Dholakia’s story is a remarkable narrative of perseverance and vision. He relocated to Surat as a young boy to work in a diamond factory, motivated by determination and a dream to leave a mark in the industry.
Eventually, along with two friends, he established SRK Exports in a modest rented room for merely INR 45 per month. Despite having limited formal education, Dholakia succeeded in building one of India’s most esteemed diamond enterprises, which currently employs over 6,000 individuals.
Discussing India’s campaign in the Women’s World Cup 2025, the host nation secured fourth place in the points table with three wins, triumphing over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
In the semi-final match against Australia, Jemimah Rodrigues delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a century that led India to the finals.
