Suryakumar Yadav made a big sacrifice for his players in the IND vs OMA match in the Asia Cup 2025. The captain didn’t come out to bat to give batting practice to other players before the Super 4 stage of the tournament.
He promoted Sanju Samson to the No.3 spot, which is generally reserved for the Indian skipper, and the wicket-keeper justified the trust by scoring a fifty, laced with 3 fours and 3 sixes as India posted 188/8 in 20 overs.
SKY, who scored an unbeaten 47 runs in the team’s seven-wicket win over arch-rivals in the Continental Cup, was more keen to see how other batters perform in the last league match.
Apart from Samson, Abhishek Sharma made a useful contribution of 38 runs in 15 balls, with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Axar Patel (26 off 13) and Tilak Varma (29 off 18) were also among the runs.
Meanwhile, India will face Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the next round of the tournament. The match against the Men in Green is on September 21 in Dubai.
