India posted a formidable total of 188/8 after winning the toss and opting to bat first against Oman in an inconsequential Group A fixture at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19.
In the first innings, Hardik Pandya was promoted to No. 4 in the batting order. However, the star all-rounder faced just one delivery before getting run out at the non-striker's end in the eighth over. Pandya was backing up a bit too far when Sanju Samson hit a straight drive back towards left-arm pacer Jiten Ramanandi. While Ramanandi failed to latch onto a tough chance, he parried the ball towards the stumps and caught the Baroda cricketer short of his crease.
In the penultimate over, which was also bowled by Ramanandi, an identical dismissal came about. This time, Harshit Rana drilled the delivery back at the bowler. Ramanandi deflected the ball towards the stumps at the non-striker's end. Arshdeep Singh was on the receiving end of misfortune this time. The Punjab speedster had no chance of making his way back into the crease.
