Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have played two matches in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The ODI tournament is the premier competition in India’s domestic set-up. The presence of the two legendary batters attracted a lot of fans. Both Kohli and Rohit are centrally contracted players, but their earnings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy don’t come close to the money they get for representing India and their franchises in the IPL. The salaries of the players in the domestic tournament depend on a tiered system.

The earnings are fixed based on the number of List Matches a player has played. Virat and Rohit score over other players because of their experiences.

Pay Structure

Top Category: (Over 40 List A matches)

Playing XI: Rs 60,000 per match

Others: Rs 30,000 per match

Mid Category (21 to 40 List A matches)

Playing XI: Rs 50,000 per match

Others: Rs 25,000 per match

Junior Category (0 to 20 List A matches)

Playing XI: Rs 40,000 per match

Others: Rs 20,000 per match

Kohli (Delhi) and Rohit (Mumbai) will earn the exact amount as other domestic veterans, because they have been part of over 40 matches. The two will be paid INR 1.20 lakh each for two games, while the Indian cricket board gives them INR 6 lakh per ODI.

Players can earn more in domestic cricket

Daily Allowances: Players are paid for food and accommodation.

Player of the Match: The award carries a cash prize of INR 10,000.

Prize Money: Teams that make it to the knockouts and the final become eligible for the prize pool, which is distributed among the players and the support staff.

The match fee is fixed but both Kohli and Rohit can earn more apart from INR 60,000 per game in the tournament.
