A lot has been happening between head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batter Virat Kohli at the moment, even as the team is ready to face South Africa in the second ODI in Raipur.
Ahead of the contest on Wednesday, the two senior batters Kohli and Rohit Sharma were busy fine-tuning their preparations. They were involved in an intense net session against throw-down specialists. Gambhir observed the proceedings involving the two stalwarts.
According to NDTV, national selector Pragyan Ojha was sent to Raipur to solve the matter between Gambhir and Kohli, as the dressing room atmosphere had become negative.
As Virat’s training session concluded, he walked past Gambhir without saying anything, a PTI report claimed. Rohit, who followed his long-time teammate, stopped to speak with coach Gambhir.

Since the start of the three-match series, several pictures and videos have been uploaded on social media suggesting that Virat and Gautam are not talking to each other. While the situation was expected to improve when Kohli agreed to play in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, it appears that more effort is needed to bring the two together.
Virat and Rohit are not worried about their places in the 2027 ODI World Cup as they know their roles. They have been amongst the runs since returning to action with the Australia ODI series. While Rohit scored a hundred in Sydney, Virat accumulated a century in Ranchi. He was named the Player of the Match for posting 135 runs against the Proteas. Kohli has taken his century count to 52 in the fifty-over format and 83 overall in international cricket.
Kohli and Rohit are the main attractions as India looks to win the Raipur ODI and seal the series. The hosts are leading 1-0, following their 17-run win in the series opener. India posted 349/8 and dismissed the rivals on a score of 332.
