Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli was spotted having an animated discussion with skipper Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper KL Rahul during the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday, October 25. In a video circulating on social media, Kohli was seen holding Gill’s arm and pulling him aside for a tactical chat.

A former all-format captain from 2016 to 2021, the 36-year-old led India in 213 matches across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Drawing on his vast leadership experience, Kohli once again showcased his on-field involvement and strategic acumen as the visitors aimed to prevent a clean sweep in the series.

The Delhi-born batter also showcased his fielding skills, grabbing a sharp catch off Washington Sundar’s bowling to dismiss Matt Short for 30. He later completed another straightforward catch to send Cooper Connolly back for 23.

Kohli Remains Scoreless So Far In Australia ODIs

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is still searching for his first run of the ongoing series, having recorded back-to-back ducks for the first time in his illustrious ODI career. In the opening match at Perth, the right-hander chased a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc and offered a catch to backward point, where Cooper Connolly completed a fine take.

In the second ODI at Adelaide, Kohli fell leg-before to an inswinging delivery from Xavier Bartlett. With India chasing a modest 237 in the third ODI, the veteran will be eager to return to form and get some runs on the board. Earlier in Sydney, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh once again won the toss and chose to bat first.

India made two changes to their playing XI for the contest, with Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav replacing Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy. At the time of writing, openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had made a steady start to the run chase.
