Reports have recently surfaced suggesting that Virat Kohli may not extend his IPL career in the same way MS Dhoni did after retiring from international cricket. Kohli has already stepped down from playing in the Test and T20I formats, and according to BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, he has yet to commit to the 2027 World Cup. As uncertainty surrounds his international cricket future, fresh reports are emerging about Kohli’s potential early departure from the IPL.

Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of India’s most iconic cricketing figures. Not only his consistency and strokeplay has significantly contributed to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but his brand value has also added a major boost to the franchise’s image.

However, according to a report by Rohit Juglan of RevSportz, Kohli recently declined to renew his contract with a certain brand. This has led to speculation that Kohli may want RCB to look for a new face, suggesting that he might be ready to walk away from the IPL.

When RCB released Faf du Plessis, they approached Virat Kohli fot captaincy. Kohli declined the role and suggested Rajat Patidar as the captain, a decision that ultimately led to RCB winning their first-ever IPL title in 18 years.

Kohli’s decision to distance himself from the leadership group and his advice to RCB to identify a new captain suggest that his time as an active IPL player might be limited. In his 18 years with RCB, Kohli has been integral to the team’s success, scoring 8,661 runs in 267 outings. He has captained the side in 143 matches, a record for the franchise.
