Ravichandran Ashwin is the master when it comes to mind games. His game knowledge has landed him in trouble on several occasions, but despite facing criticism, he strongly defends his stance.

But his antics did not work against veteran English pacer James Anderson. When the action began on Day 2 of the second Test in Visakhapatnam, Anderson seemed irritated by Ashwin’s mannerisms.

Anderson probably was complaining to the umpire about the way Ashwin was standing at the non-striker’s end. As the 41-year-old was running in to bowl, Ashwin stretched his arm, which stopped the English bowler from delivering the ball. It’s not known whether Ashwin did it deliberately or not.

This was another chapter of the Ashwin vs Anderson rivalry. The two share a difference of opinions when it comes to run-out at the non-striker’s end. Though the world knows Ashwin doesn’t care a bit about the ‘Spirit of Cricket‘ when it comes to executing something that is legal, Anderson is completely against it.

James Anderson bags five wickets in the second Test

After missing the first Test, James Anderson joined England in Vizag and did his work again by dismissing Shubman Gill, who was scoring runs at a faster rate during his short stay at the crease. On Day 2 of the match, after the incident mentioned above, Anderson had the last laugh as he dismissed Ravichandran Ashwin who made 20 from 37 balls.

A couple of overs later, double-centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal became Anderson’s third victim. Anderson bowled 25 overs, conceding 47 runs with three wickets in the first innings.

In the second innings, Anderson again dismissed Jaiswal for 17 runs. But before the 22-year-old, Rohit Sharma gave away his wicket to the Englishman after a paltry 13 runs. Anderson bowled 10 overs, gave away 29 runs, and dismissed two batters.
