Indian cricket did have been stunned by the record set by Sakibul Gani during the first Bihar State match against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi when the right-handed player struck a 32-ball century, which will now be the fastest century by any Indian in List A cricket.
Batting alongside the teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Gani unleashed a brutal onslaught against the bowlers and carried Bihar to a mammoth 574/6 - the highest team total in List A cricket history, smashing the long-standing Tamil Nadu record of 506/2.
Most importantly, Gani became the one to achieve something which even the rated highly Vaibhav Suryavanshi could not do, the fastest List A hundred by an Indian batter.

Sakibul Gani comes from a humble family background in the East Champaran district of Bihar and was born Motihari, Bihar, on 2 September 1999. Not much resources and facilities, but he holds onto his dream of cricket and battled through the domestic system of Bihar.
A journey well worth the string of qualities which reflect discipline, patience, and belief-these qualities are paying dividends at the national level today.
Sakibul Gani made his List A debut for Bihar on October 7, 2019, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. His performances indicated promise early on so that he was always regularly selected.
Later, he made his T20 debut on January 11, 2021, by playing the match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), highlighting him as one of Bihar's crucial batters across formats.

Gani's biggest statement so far came because of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, while he was staring at it with red eyes. His first-class debut took place in the Ranji Trophy 2022 against Mizoram in Kolkata.
On debut, Sakibul Gani made history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to score a triple century on first-class debut. This knock brought him immediately into the national limelight and revealed his hunger for big scores.
The consistent performances, as well as a calm head, resulted in Sakibul Gani finally being named captain of the Bihar side. His leadership has played a major role in Bihar's improved performance at junior domestic levels.
The record-breaking outing in the Vijay Hazare's opening phase further proved that Gani can lead when it matters most.
