Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal massacred the Afghan bowling to take India to a relatively easier yet another series victory at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. This win prolonged India’s unbeaten run in bilateral T20I series at home to 15. The last time they lost a home T20I series was in 2019, when Australia came on top 2-0.
Jaiswal amassed a 27-ball fifty following which Dube went into overdrive, hitting a hat-trick of sixes off Mohammad Nabi to bring up a half-century stand off just 25 balls. Jaiswal hit a four and two sixes off Noor after which Dube followed up with three fours in an over off Naveen-ul-Haq and raced to a 22-ball fifty, his second successive half-century in the series.
The third and final T20I between India and Afghanistan will take place in Bengaluru on Wednesday, January 17.
Brief scores: Afghanistan 172 in 20 overs (Gulbadin Naib 57; Arshdeep Singh 3-32, Axar Patel 2-17) lost to India 173/4 in 15.4 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 68, Shivam Dube 63*; Karim Janat 2-13) by 6 wickets
A tale of two run-outs in the last over of the Afghanistan innings.
