18 wins, 1 loss: Jonny Clayton’s extends remarkable record in Rosmalen with Dutch Darts Championship win

Jonny Clayton emerged victorious at the 2025 Dutch Darts Championship this past weekend, capping off a strong campaign with an 8-6 win over Germany’s Niko Springer in the final. Known as The Ferret, the 50-year-old Welshman’s triumph not only earned him another trophy but also saw him climb to fifth place in the PDC Order of Merit — putting him within striking distance of fourth-ranked Stephen Bunting.

To say Rosmalen suits Clayton would be an understatement. The Dutch town has become something of a happy hunting ground for him in recent months. Just a few weeks earlier, he won Players Championship 14 at the same venue, adding to his growing list of accomplishments in the Netherlands. Even last year, despite falling short in the final of this very event against Josh Rock, Clayton showed he has a particular affinity for the Rosmalen stage.

That trend has only grown stronger. With this latest win, Clayton has now claimed victory in 17 of his last 18 matches played in Rosmalen — an extraordinary record that highlights his dominance at the venue. His overall win percentage in the town now stands at a remarkable 86%, underscoring just how comfortable and confident he feels performing there.

However, fans hoping to see Clayton continue his Rosmalen streak will have to wait. Unfortunately for the Welshman, the Dutch Darts Championship marked the final PDC event of the year to be held in the town. The remainder of the Players Championship calendar will unfold in England and Germany, meaning Clayton will need to carry his form across borders for the rest of the season. A return to Rosmalen — and a potential title defence — will have to wait until next year.

Looking ahead, the European Tour resumes this coming weekend in Leverkusen with the European Darts Open. Clayton will once again be in action, aiming to build on his recent success. Defending champion Dave Chisnall is also in the field, hoping to repeat his title-winning run from last year when he defeated fellow Englishman Ross Smith in the final.

With momentum on his side and his confidence high, Clayton will be a man to watch as the European Tour rolls on — even if his favorite Dutch venue takes a break from the spotlight.
