The World Championships are fast approaching, with final slots in the lineup starting to gradually get filled. The latest darter to confirm their place at the prestigious event at Alexander Palace is Aussie Tim Pusey.
The Magnet qualified by securing top spot in the Australian Association Darts Tour (ADA) after sealing a brace of title triumphs in Victoria last weekend, booking his name amongst the greatest players in the sport who will compete for the Sid Waddell trophy and record £1 million.
Pusey overcame Raymond Smith in the final of ADA Event 10 in a last-leg decider to confirm his spot as the latest Aussie to qualify. The 33-year-old won three titles on the newly found ADA tour, leaping above Smith late in the process.
He has already had key experience against some of the top names in the world on a big stage, playing in the recent Australian Darts Masters where he pushed Chris Dobey, but utimately missed too many doubles as the world number seven shoed his class and punished him.
This was the closest he had come to winning a match in the World Series, previously playing in 2018 and 2019 editions, losing to previous World Champions of Gary Anderson, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, and Michael van Gerwen.
He is not the only Aussie to be confirmed to participate at the Worlds, with Joe Comito also recently booking his spot for the second consecutive year. He qualified by topping the Dartsplayers Australia (DPA) ProTour rankings, finishing on top of the rankings after clinching the final title in Event 16 with a 6-2 win over Stuart Coburn.
Comito will be looking to improve on his debut year, becoming the first person to lose in the 2024 edition after falling to Frenchman Thibault Tricole 3-1. It was not likely he would have progressed much further, with the reigning champ and world number one Luke Humphries the next opponent.
Australia's Tim Pusey became the latest player to confirm his qualification for the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship last weekend.
