'Phil Taylor in his prime was more consistent than even Luke Humphries and Luke Littler' - Dennis Priestley sees only one darts G.O.A.T.

Dennis Priestley is convinced that a Phil Taylor in top form today would still be at the top of the world rankings, even above the likes of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler.

The former world champion and darts legend recently spoke about his views on the current generation of top players, making it clear that, in his opinion, no one can match Taylor. "I think Phil Taylor in his prime was more consistent than even Luke Humphries and Luke Littler are at the moment," Priestley told OLBG. He stressed that Taylor's impressive list of honors speaks for itself. "Phil’s records tell us the whole story and he was so good that it was hard for anyone to get close to him. I think if you put a prime Phil Taylor into the current game he would be world No. 1 with Humphries in second and Littler in third.”

The statement is striking, especially given Luke Littler's impressive achievements. The eighteen-year-old from Warrington made Premier League history this year with six evening wins and a record number of points in a single season. He also took the world title and the UK Open and, at just eighteen years old, already stands at five major tournament victories.

Still, Priestley remains cautious when it comes to labeling Littler as the best of all time. In his eyes, Taylor remains the benchmark. After all, "The Power's" list of honors is almost untouchable. With 16 world titles, 11 World Grand Prix victories and no fewer than 87 majors won, his record remains impressive. His record in the World Matchplay stands out, where he won sixteen times in seventeen finals between 1994 and his farewell in Blackpool in 2017, when he was 56 years old.

Although Littler is reviving darts with his youthful bravado, Priestley points out that it was Taylor in particular who managed to maintain his unparalleled level over decades.
