The draw has been completed for the World Series of Darts Finals which is due to take place between September 12-14, 2025 as ever at its usual home of the AFAS Live in Amsterdam.
Luke Littler is the defending champion from 12 months ago and has enjoyed back-to-back World Series of Darts triumphs ahead of the Finals. He takes on Simon Whitlock in round one in one of the main ties. Whitlock was criticised by Vincent van der Voort who called out the perceived flawed nature in the qualifying criteria.
But he returns as does five-time World Series of Darts Finals champion Michael van Gerwen albeit he is in the position where he is not seeded in this tournament due to poor form and being absent for the vast majority of the end of the World Series. He missed Australia and New Zealand and only really played in the US. He faces Wessel Nijman in a double Dutch opener.
Speaking of Dutch legends, it is also Raymond van Barneveld's return as ever and he faces off against Cor Dekker which is technically an all Dutch clash as Dekker was born in the Netherlands similar to Jeffrey de Graaf but now plays for Norway. He qualified earlier last month.
Stephen Bunting though is top seed. 'The Bullet' has long been the best player on paper on the World Series having won titles early on in Bahrain and Copenhagen. He aims to rubber stamp that when he takes on Danny Noppert who reached the final back in 2019. World Number One and US Darts Masters champion Luke Humphries also faces a tough test. He faces James Wade.
Wade off the back of the World Matchplay final returns with the title he won in 2018 in his sights. Gerwyn Price who won the Poland Darts Masters and Rob Cross who won at the Dutch Darts Masters also face off against tough opponents with Danny Lauby and Haupai Puha awaiting the duo. They qualified after playing in their respective events in US and Australia/New Zealand. Both are also Tour Card holders.
Mike de Decker reached the final in Wollongong and is now eighth seed. He faces Gabriel Clemens while Nathan Aspinall as seventh seed draws Dave Chisnall. Aspinall has not played since the World Matchplay and also decided to miss the Australia and New Zealand double header. He will aim to recapture his form again with a ranking drop likely. Chris Dobey as sixth seed also plays Luke Woodhouse.
Other ties include Josh Rock taking on Krzysztof Ratajski, Aussie dynamo Damon Heta faces Joe Cullen. While Kevin Doets will take on Jermaine Wattimena in a home Dutch dust-up. Jonny Clayton takes on American ace Jason Brandon.
In potentially one of the ties of the round too in both games, Jonny Tata who showed himself to be a dangerous operator in Australia and New Zealand faces high scoring Smudger Ross Smith. As Cameron Menzies faces an all Scot battle against Peter Wright.
The first round begins on Friday September 12 with it being half and half with the 16 first round ties. Bunting, Van Gerwen and Humphries play on Friday while Saturday sees an afternoon session featuring Littler, Price and Aspinall before the winners face off against each other in the evening. Sunday sees two sessions with the Quarter-Finals then semi-finals and final. The champion is then crowned in that final session with it being Luke Littler last year. He will go off as favourite again in Amsterdam this time.
