The complete world top is present in Sindelfingen, where the European Darts Grand Prix 2025 will be played this weekend from May 2 to 4. The Glaspalast in the German city has been a familiar stop on the Euro Tour calendar for years.
It is already the sixth of a total of fourteen Euro Tour tournaments in 2025. The first five events produced a different winner each time. Luke Littler, Nathan Aspinall, Stephen Bunting, Michael van Gerwen and Martin Schindler won the first five Euro Tours of the season. They will all also be present at the European Darts Grand Prix next weekend.
The top-16 players in the world rankings have protected status and enter the tournament from the second round. Luke Humphries leads the seedings list. Furthermore, top players such as Littler, Van Gerwen, Bunting, Aspinall, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson are among the top names.
The sixteen players invited through the Pro Tour Order of Merit do have to start the tournament from the first round. This includes Wessel Nijman, Raymond van Barneveld as well as Mike de Decker, Martin Schindler, Michael Smith and Ross Smith.
In the first round they will be paired with one of the sixteen players who qualified for this Euro Tour event through the various qualifiers. Other participants in Sindelfingen include Krzysztof Ratajski, Max Hopp, Gabriel Clemens and Callan Rydz.
This is the 11th time the European Darts Grand Prix has been played. The very first edition of this event was in 2014, and was won by Mervyn King. Remarkably, in ten editions there have been as many as nine different winners. Michael van Gerwen (2016 and 2018) is the only player to win this tournament more than once. Other winners include Kim Huybrechts (2015), Peter Wright (2017), Ian White (2019), Jose de Sousa (2020), Luke Humphries (2022), Rob Cross (2023) and Gary Anderson (2024).
Anderson took the title in Sindelfingen last year by defeating Ross Smith in the final. For "The Flying Scotsman," it was his first Euro Tour title since 2014.
