For the third time in his career, Nathan Aspinall is set to battle it out in the Premier League Darts playoffs later tonight at the O2 Arena in London. Having been a beaten finalist back in 2020, 'The Asp' is looking to go one step further in 2025.
Aspinall’s selection for this year’s Premier League drew criticism from both fans and fellow players. But any doubts about his inclusion have been firmly dispelled by a campaign defined by consistency and composure under pressure. As mentioned, this season marks Aspinall’s third playoff appearance in just five career Premier League Darts campaigns — a testament to his steady presence at the top level. Even in the two seasons he missed out on finals night, he finished just outside the qualification spots in fifth.

Aspinall also finished the regular season on a high, winning the penultimate night and reaching the semi-finals on Night 16, rising above Gerwyn Price to 3rd in the final table, setting up a meeting with Luke Humphries at the O2 Arena.
Speaking to Sky Sports from Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison's charity golf event earlier this week, Aspinall cast an eye towards the Premier League finale this Thursday night. "Good preparation isn't it, a game of golf in the rain!" laughed the 33-year-old.
"Obviously, Thursday night is massive for me. It's one of the biggest nights in my career," added the two-time PDC major winner. "But it's nice to have a bit of downtime before it. I purposely played here, to be honest, so that I'd not think about the magnitude of Thursday night. There's some good lads here, so I'll have a bit of fun today, then it's all about preparing for Thursday."
And given that many believed, Aspinall shouldn't even be in the Premier League at all, he heads to the O2 Arena without any pressure on his shoulders, already having proven his doubters wrong. "Anything on Thursday night is a bonus for me," Aspinall explains. "Me and Gezzy (Gerwyn Price) have proved all our haters wrong!"
"It's just going to be a fantastic night of darts and I'm very proud of myself for getting to the final four. A big night on Thursday night could change everything," Aspinall concludes. "I'm sure it's going to be rocking. It's a dream of mine to play at the O2 and Mr Brightside I'm sure is going to be banging on Thursday night."
