Gerwyn Price is facing a fight for fitness as 'The Iceman' aims to play at the Flanders Darts Trophy this weekend in Belgium which begins on Friday 29 August in Antwerp.
Price would've been mistaken for deciding not to play this weekend in Belgium given that he had to withdraw from both of the ProTours earlier this week with a swollen hand and posting pictures of himself in hospital.
But it seems that Price doesn't want to disappoint his Belgian fans. The Welshman has been a revelation in recent months in regards to his on oche form as well as with the fans who have warmed to him after years of being the outcast pantomime villain.
"Just what I didn't want, back to the hospital it is," he captioned his original post then he showed himself in the corridors of the hospital with a drip attached to his arm saying 'not a bed in sight'.
Hand injuries though have been part of the Price makeup though before with the Iceman previously having to skip a Premier League night after suffering a fracture in the same hand. It is very much not needed right now for a player who is back towards the top of his game.
Albeit he also won a tournament with said fractured hand at the time so don't write off Price playing in Antwerp and also potentially going on a solid run despite this setback. It is very much a busy time for darters right now with the World Series of Darts Finals, Czech Darts Open and also ProTours constantly between now and the end of September.
Then it is the real nitty gritty with the World Grand Prix, European Championship and Grand Slam of Darts the headline acts of a busy Autumn and Price will want to be in and amongst it but right now it'll be more lamenting his luck than anything else.
