'I want to win the World title again': Gerwyn Price has sights set on more majors to complete career goals

Gerwyn Price returns to New York again agonisingly close to winning the US Darts Masters last year against Rob Cross and he is itching for success.

Price has been sensational at times this season and has really shown the real him. But also by his own admission he is also itching for a title and some more success again.

He also comes into New York off the back of an illness but said that he plans to play more of the bread and butter ProTour tournaments when he does return home as he needs to get his sharpness back for a busy back end of the season.

"It's nice to be back. I'm not enjoying the heat but I'm enjoying New York. It's an iconic and unique venue, for someone like myself from a small little village in Markham an ex-rugby player who never really knew about darts 20 years ago to be playing in one of these magnificent venues it's a pinch me moment," said Price to Online Darts.

"I'm due a win though. I know the back end of the year usually when the Premier League is over I find my best stuff. I think I need to start playing in more ProTours as that's what usually gets me sharp but it has been quite busy and knowing this is coming up."

"I did go to the ProTours last week but I was a little bit under the weather, probably shouldn't have gone then I was ill over the weekend. But thankfully I've brushed that off and I'm ready to go. There's a couple more ProTours before the Matchplay that I'm going to go to and hopefully get myself super sharp and ready for that."

While he wants to win the World Matchplay, he also sees the bigger picture to it too. "It's just vital ranking points as well. I've eased the pressure I've reached the Grand Slam by getting to the final of the World Cup so I've stopped chasing tournaments in that sense. I don't pressure on myself, I'm not under pressure to win money. The only pressure I'm under is to keep winning ranking points."

"I hate losing, I'm the worst loser in the world. I'll take that title because if you enjoy losing then you don't deserve to be on the stage. I love winning and I hate losing. Sometimes I show my true colours in that sense a bit too much. It was good to get to the final of the World Cup, I was gutted not to win it but fair play to Ireland and Josh. He power scored in that final, we needed a nine-darter to win."

"I haven't peaked yet. I've practically won everything. I want to win more some majors, I want to win the world title again."
