'It does get me in trouble, has got me in trouble, and probably will continue to get me in trouble'- Scott Williams jokes about not following the rules

"It does get me in trouble, has got me in trouble, and probably will continue to get me in trouble"

Scott Williams in an interview with The Daily Star joked that he doesn't follow the rules if he can help it, with the darting showman letting his personality shine through on stage. "It does get me in trouble, has got me in trouble, and probably will continue to get me in trouble - but I’m there; I’m a different personality," Scott Williams said with whilst having a chuckle to himself. Williams believes it is better to show his true personality on stage that to keep things in because he may get a little telling off.

“I’m quite crazy, I’m quite different, and I don’t follow the rules if I can help it! I’m not a keyboard warrior. I’m not an NPC! I have my own thoughts, my own ideas…If I want to do stuff, and it's within the rules a little bit, then I’ll do it!”. He is a player that wants to have fun whilst on stage, try something new.

However, it has landed 'Shaggy' in hot water a few times but most recently at the Euro Tour when he responded to heckling fan with a crude gesture from the oche. He went onto reply to this by saying, "the proper darts fans understand what happened; they heard someone shoutout while I was practising...My character doesn’t let people do stuff like that. So it was a little bit silly, but I don’t regret doing it!". It has been becoming more common that darts fans having been trying to say abusive comments and whistle while the players are playing/warming up but they can not let it get to them and react, which is easier said than done. This is why Williams does not "regret" doing it.

In this interview he also explains that he got into professional darts later on in his career and that he thanks Target for taking him on. “I owe them a lot, as well as my family and friends who have supported me throughout the journey.”

As much as Scott Williams does get into a little trouble in tournaments you can tell it is just because he backs himself and that he wants to have a bit of fun whilst he is doing his job. But, at times he may need to find ways to calm himself down so he does not get into too much trouble.
