Defending champion John Henderson has narrowly secured his place in the quarter-finals of the World Seniors Darts Championship in Purfleet. 'Big Hendo' needed a decisive set to overcome Chris Mason.

At the start of the match, Henderson appeared to be in complete control, winning eight of the first nine legs. This dominant performance earned him two sets and a 2-0 lead in the third set. He needed just one more leg to seal the victory but squandered numerous match darts.

Mason capitalized on Henderson's misses, taking the third set 3-2 and then securing the fourth set by the same margin. However, Henderson regained his composure in the final set and clinched the victory.

Darts icon Steve Beaton also booked his place in the quarter-finals. 'The Bronzed Adonis' had narrowly escaped elimination in the first round against Colin McGarry (3-0) but had no trouble this time, cruising past Paul Hogan in straight sets (3-0).

Richie Burnett caused a minor upset by eliminating Richie Howson. The Welshman took an early lead by winning the first two sets. Howson responded by taking the third set, but he couldn't maintain momentum. Burnett secured the fourth set, sealing a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Graham Usher also advanced to the last eight. The Englishman defeated Neil Duff 3-1 in sets and will return to the stage on Saturday afternoon.
