Jonny Tata will make his debut at the PDC World Darts Championship in December after throwing a nine-darter this weekend and securing first place on the DartPlayers New Zealand ProTour.

The 33-year-old Kiwi enjoyed a rock-solid 2025 season, winning five of the last seven DPNZ tournaments, leaving compatriot Ben Robb trailing behind him in the final rankings of the Tour.

In Canterbury, Tata began the closing Pro Tour tournaments with success in Event 11, where he was too strong for Jamie Hamill in the final 7-5. Earlier, he had eliminated Robb in the semi-finals, having first narrowly won over Jason Dellow and then sent Mark Cleaver home.

A day later, Tata continued the streak with a win in the twelfth and final tournament of the season. In the semi-finals he did not give Cleaver a single leg and in the final he beat Robb 7-4. Tata impressed again: he quickly took a 4-0 lead and hit a nine darter in the fourth leg. Robb fought his way back with an 11-darter and a 12-darter to close the gap to 6-4, but Tata decided the match with double 4 to secure his trip to the Alexandra Palace.

Tata, who was also in action at the World Series of Darts Finals earlier this month, also gets a spot in the first edition of the Dabble Darts Premier League, which starts Saturday. Robb is also part of that, having secured his place via the DPNZ Top 16 Play-Off.

The two New Zealanders join six Australian players in the eight-week ANZ Premier League, which begins on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the John Cain Arena in Melbourne. The circus then travels through Newcastle, Canberra, Hobart, Adelaide, Wellington and the Gold Coast before the top four players report to Brisbane on Nov. 22 for the playoffs.
