Littler, Humphries & Price headline fight for £100,000 in prize money at New Zealand Darts Masters 2025

The Spark Arena in Auckland will host the fifth edition of the New Zealand Darts Masters on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th August this coming weekend. This prestigious World Series of Darts event carries a total prize fund of £100,000.

Eight of the sport’s biggest names have been invited by the PDC to make the trip Down Under. The line-up is headlined by reigning World Champion Luke Littler, with world number one Luke Humphries and former World Champion Gerwyn Price also among the star attractions. They are joined by Stephen Bunting, Damon Heta, Chris Dobey, Mike De Decker and Josh Rock.

In the opening round, they will face eight Oceania representatives: Simon Whitlock, Haupai Puha, Joe Comito, Brody Klinge, Tim Pusey, Brandon Weening, James Bailey and Jonny Tata.

The champion will pocket £30,000, while the runner-up will take home £16,000. Even first-round losers won’t leave empty-handed, with all players guaranteed at least £1,750 in prize money. Importantly, these earnings do not count towards either the PDC Order of Merit or the World Series of Darts Order of Merit. Instead, the focus is on collecting points for the World Series rankings.

Every player earns one point simply for appearing at the oche. Reaching the quarter-finals increases that total to three points, a semi-final place is worth five, the runner-up receives eight, and the tournament winner collects the maximum of twelve points. These points are crucial, as the top eight players at the end of the World Series season automatically qualify for the World Series Finals, to be held later this year in Amsterdam.

The PDC first visited Auckland in 2015, staging the Auckland Darts Masters annually until 2018. Adrian Lewis (2015), Gary Anderson (2016), Kyle Anderson (2017) and Michael van Gerwen (2018) all lifted the title during that period.

In 2019, the New Zealand leg of the World Series was rebranded as the New Zealand Darts Masters and moved to Hamilton. Van Gerwen won that inaugural edition, beating Raymond van Barneveld in an all-Dutch final.

Due to the corona pandemic, the The 2020 and 2021 tournaments were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before the PDC returned to Hamilton in 2022, when Gerwyn Price claimed the title with victory over Jonny Clayton. Rob Cross lifted the trophy in 2023, before Luke Humphries triumphed in 2024. This year, the tournament returns to Auckland for the first time since 2018.
