History was made at London’s O2 Arena as Luke Humphries etched his name into an exclusive chapter of darts history. With an 11-8 victory over Luke Littler in the final of the 2025 Premier League Darts play-offs, the Englishman added another major title to his growing collection — and in doing so, became just the fourth player ever to complete the prestigious PDC ‘Triple Crown’.
Humphries had already enjoyed a spectacular 2024, winning both the PDC World Darts Championship and the World Matchplay — two of the sport’s most iconic titles. His triumph in the Premier League now completes the trifecta, placing him alongside some of the most legendary figures the sport has ever seen.
The ‘Triple Crown’ — made up of the PDC World Championship, World Matchplay, and Premier League — is a rare feat in darts. Until now, only three players had managed to win all three events over the course of their careers: Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, and Gary Anderson.
Taylor, widely considered the greatest darts player of all time, sits in a league of his own. The 16-time world champion has also claimed 16 World Matchplay titles and six Premier League victories. His dominance set a benchmark that few have come close to matching.
Michael van Gerwen, meanwhile, is the most successful active player in the Premier League, with a record seven titles. The Dutchman also boasts three world titles and three Matchplay wins, firmly establishing his place among the game’s greats.
Gary Anderson completes the original trio. The Scotsman, affectionately known as ‘The Flying Scotsman,’ has two world titles, two Premier League crowns, and a single World Matchplay win to his name — enough to earn his place in this exclusive club.
Now, Luke Humphries becomes the fourth man to join this elite group. His ascent has been rapid but richly deserved, with major wins across different formats and venues underlining his all-round ability and mental toughness on the big stage.
Luke Littler looks the most likely candidate to join them next. The 18-year-old sensation already has both the World Championship and the Premier League titles under his belt. The only piece missing? The World Matchplay — a title he’ll have a prime opportunity to chase this July.
Elsewhere, Peter Wright, is just one Premier League title away from completing the set, having already won the World Championship and World Matchplay. James Wade is missing only a world title, while Raymond van Barneveld, another legendary name in the sport, needs only a World Matchplay victory to complete his Triple Crown, all three of these are looking more and more unlikely to ever happen though.
