Luke Littler not on level of priorly perfect Michael van Gerwen despite Premier League Darts record breaker
Simon O'Connor/PDC

Thursday night Luke Littler threw averages of 115.96 and 101.44 during the fifteenth round of play in the Premier League Darts. This already puts Littler at 22 averages above 100 in the Premier League season.

A new record for Littler, who previously improved two records in this Premier League. 'The Nuke' has already won five weekly titles in Premier League Darts this season, something no player had ever done before, and in addition, Littler has already produced a record number of 180-scores.

Littler threw an average of over 100 in 22 of his 34 matches, including an average of over 100 in four of them. By comparison; his great rival Luke Humphries only stands at 14 100+ averages in this Premier League. Humphries did hold the old record, as during the 2021 Premier League, the world number one reached 21 100+ averages during the Premier League season.

Looking purely at percentages, Littler's statistics still stand in stark contrast to Michael van Gerwen's perfect 2017 campaign. Back then, a different league format was used and players played far fewer matches. Van Gerwen played eighteen matches then, but in all of those matches he threw an average of over a hundred, a percentage of one hundred percent, while Littler's percentage in this season is 64.71 percent.

Van Gerwen also had a higher percentage in the 2015 (83.33 percent), 2016 (83.33 percent) and 2018 (94.44 percent) Premier League seasons than Littler has now.
