Luke Littler & Luke Humphries to dominate World Cup of Darts? Keith Deller isn't so sure: 'Two nations will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds'

With the world number one Luke Humphries and the world champion Luke Littler teaming up, England head into the 2025 World Cup of Darts as the overwhelming pre-tournament favourites. According to darts legend Keith Deller however, the two Lukes won't have things quite as easy as some are suggesting.

Deller does however, admit the English pair are the men to beat. "I know it doesn't represent great value, but it's nigh on impossible to look beyond a team that consists of the two best players on the planet right now, Luke Humphries and Luke Littler," the former world champion previews for Bet365. "Of course, this will be the first time the two will have played together in competetive action, but I know they have put a lot of work in behind the scenes - they are taking this incredibly serious."

"They are the overwhelming favourites and the pressure will be on, but they have proven so many times already that they thrive under the spotlight, and I fully expect them to be holding aloft the trophy this weekend," Deller adds.

As mentioned though, Deller insists Littler and Humphries need to be wary. In particular, the icon sees two nations as a threat to the superstar duo. "They will likely be facing Wales or Scotland in the final - two nations who will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds," he explains.

Of those two, Deller also fancies the Welsh pair - Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton - as a more serious contender than the Scots - Peter Wright and Gary Anderson.

"Don't forget they actually won this competition a couple of years ago, so will toe the oche in Germany in confident mood - Price has especially been throwing beautifully over the past three or four months," Deller says. "They are in the opposite half of the draw to England too, meaning they don't have to worry about Messrs Humphries and Littler until the final. Anything can happen in the World Cup, we've seen upsets before, but, I have to admit, I'd be surprised if Wales aren't in contention come finals day."
