Luke Littler has won the 2025 Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp, adding a 4th European Tour title of his career thanks to a dramatic 8-7 win over Josh Rock in the final on Sunday night.
The World Champion has become known for his ability to wrestle momentum away from opponents at key stages, and this latest European Tour triumph was another perfect example. For long spells it was Rock who looked the more composed, punishing Littler’s early inaccuracy on the outer ring and threatening to run away with the contest.
Rock opened the match in style with a clinical 12-darter, before Littler responded with a hold of his own. The pace was ferocious from the outset, with four maximums fired inside the opening three legs. Rock, though, struck first blood with a cool 86 checkout on the bull to lead 2-1.
The Northern Irishman then tightened his grip as both players faltered on the doubles in leg four. Littler spurned a host of opportunities, allowing Rock to clean up on double five for a crucial break. When the World Cup winner followed that up with a comfortable hold on double 10 to make it 4-1, the pressure on Littler was already mounting.
The teenager halted the charge with a steady hold on double 10, but further missed chances proved costly as Rock stretched the gap once more to 5-2. At that point, Littler had already squandered 14 darts at a double – the type of profligacy rarely associated with his meteoric rise.
What came next was vintage Littler. A tidy 76 checkout on double 18 gave him a foothold, and an 11-dart break of throw cranked the contest wide open. With the Antwerp crowd adding an edge of hostility, Littler silenced the noise with an ice-cool finish on 25 to level at 5-5. In the blink of an eye, he had rattled off three legs on the spin, and when he pinned double 10 again to move 6-5 ahead, it was four in a row and the match had been completely turned on its head.
Rock showed his own steel to respond instantly, breaking back for 6-6, but Littler moved within touching distance of the trophy with a ruthless 90 checkout. That left him throwing for the title – only for Rock to conjure a breathtaking escape act. With Littler poised on double eight for glory, Rock produced a stunning 161 checkout on the bull, one of the shots of the season, to drag the contest into a deciding leg.
The tension could not have been higher, yet Littler delivered the perfect riposte. Holding throw with complete authority, the 18-year-old reeled off a nerveless 11-darter, sealing victory on double 18 to capture the title and cap another unforgettable European Tour night.
For Rock, it was a performance brimming with belief, heavy scoring and a reminder of why he is tipped as one of the sport’s brightest stars. But Littler’s composure under the fiercest pressure once again proved decisive, adding yet another trophy to his remarkable CV.
