The MODUS Super Series will feature a special International Pairs Week at the beginning of next month. Twelve countries, each represented by two players, will compete over the course of a week to crown the first-ever champions of this unique tournament format.
The MODUS Super Series is a weekly darts competition featuring twelve players who battle it out from Monday to Friday for a place in the Saturday night finals. The top performer after three sessions earns direct qualification for the final evening. On Saturday night, the finalists compete in a mini group stage, followed by semi-finals and a final to determine the weekly winner.
However, starting on Monday, May 5th, the usual format will make way for a special edition: the International Pairs Week. In this event, twelve nations - each fielding a duo - will take to the oche for a week of high-stakes international action.
Group A, which runs from Monday to Wednesday, includes England, represented by Mervyn King and Steve West. They'll face tough competition from Scotland, fielding two seasoned veterans in Robert Thornton and John Henderson.
Also competing in Group A are:
Belgium, with Brian Raman and Xanti Van den Bergh
Kenya, represented by Peter Wachiuri and Manpreet Kalsi
Gibraltar, featuring Craig Galliano and Justin Hewitt
The Netherlands, with Jimmy van Schie and Danny van Trijp
Groups B and C kick off on Thursday. Group B currently includes:
Germany (David Schlichting and Marcel Althaus)
Ireland (Shane McGuirk and John O'Shea)
Wales (Richie Burnett and Kurt Parry)
Meanwhile, Group C consists of:
Poland (Lukasz Waclawski and Sebastian Steyer)
Northern Ireland (Neil Duff and Richard McKee)
France (Jacques Labre and Nicolas Thuillier)
Additional teams from Group A that do not secure direct qualification to Saturday’s final stage will be redistributed into Groups B and C to complete the lineup.
