Gerwyn Price has tried a number of turnout songs over the years, but each time "The Iceman" falls back on Vanilla Ice's familiar Ice Ice Baby. Still, the former world champion recently admitted that he would actually prefer to take the stage under a different song.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Price revealed that he is a bit envious of the energetic atmosphere that fellow walk-on Nathan Aspinall manages to create. Indeed, The Asp comes on under Mr. Brightside by The Killers, a song that is invariably sung loudly by the audience.
"I think it would probably be Nathan’s. I like that," said Price. "I think it’s the only one that gets the hype and gets the crowd going. Maybe it’s getting a little bit boring now as well, but at the beginning it was quite good." Albeit he still loves the song, he said: "No, I actually love it."
The Welsh darter also admitted that it is not just admiration for Aspinall's choice. Luke Littler's walk-on song, Greenlight by Pitbull, has also become a personal favorite, albeit to the slight annoyance of his wife.
"I’m actually walking around the house singing Luke Littler’s song as well. Like ‘I’m ready to go!’ My Mrs is like ‘oh my god, shut up." he said laughing.
Recently, Price and Littler met in the semifinals of Premier League Darts. Then Littler managed to reach the final of the playoffs at the expense of his Welsh rival. In the end, Littler in turn lost to Luke Humphries in the final.
