PDC Players Championship 16 Highest Averages | Gary Anderson, Dirk van Duijvenbode & Ross Smith among standout performers in Hildesheim

Darts fans were treated to a clinic in scoring and consistency at Players Championship 16 in Hildesheim — but who stood out statistically? Find the highest averages of the day right here!

Topping the averages was two-time world champion Gary Anderson. ‘The Flying Scotsman’ looked every bit the legend as he dismantled Kim Huybrechts 6-1 in the last 32, posting a sublime 111.43 average — the highest of the day. Anderson looked in control throughout, though his run came to an end in the following round with a narrow 6-5 loss to Ricky Evans.

Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode delivered the second-best average of the tournament, hitting 107.53 during his 6-3 win over Switzerland’s Stefan Bellmont in the last 64. ‘Aubergenius’ carried that form into the later stages before falling 6-3 in the quarter-finals to Brendan Dolan.

Jermaine Wattimena rounded out the top three. The 37-year-old produced a 106.47 average in a dominant 6-2 victory over Ted Evetts in the opening round. Wattimena later bowed out in the last 32 after a close defeat to fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld.

No one was more consistently brilliant, though, than Ross Smith. The Englishman appeared three times in the day’s top seven averages — 105.64, 105.21, and 104.56, and hit not one, but two nine-darters during the afternoon — underlining a level of control and confidence few could match. His power scoring and tidy finishing kept him in command throughout the day.

Other top-tier performances came from Damon Heta (104.41), Krzysztof Ratajski (103.87), and a trio of Dutch talents in Niels Zonneveld (102.93), Danny Noppert (102.61), and van Barneveld (101.98). Madars Razma rounded out the top 15 with a 100.13 average.

As for the silverware, it was Ross Smith who backed up his numbers with results. He capped off a brilliant day with a commanding 8-0 win over Brendan Dolan in the final, securing the fifth Players Championship title of his career — and his first of 2025.
