Raymond van Barneveld expresses his feelings that the prize money can be too high in some competitions and it is effecting the competitiveness of the remaining competitions.
"So in my opinion, PDC have to look into a new system with points. They can still show what you earn". Raymond van Barneveld calls for a new points ranking system, "you could get 100 points for the worlds and 75 points for the other majors, because if you win the worlds title now you're straight into the top 2". He explains that one competition can set you up for the year due to the price money that holds and it not fair for the other players that can now not come close.
"If you don't win that tournament, you can lose your urge to play in the remaining tournaments as you now you can't really come close anymore." With this being the case will it affect the participation in the lower tournaments and be a backwards step for the sport.
"If you win the worlds you can be top 4 easily in the ranking and go play in the Premier League". The Dutchmen explains that players intend to be around for many years but if you have one good year you can achieve everything in one go and it can affect your urge. He explains how well Luke Littler got on the big stage and now he will be a regular in the Premier League due to that season and it gives other players little to no chance.
A points system seems like a fair system that will allow the players to win big still on the big tours but will also keep the competitiveness up in the smaller tournaments too as players will still be in the chance to win things.
