Statistics of Premier League semifinalists under the microscope: all signs are green for Luke Littler to reign again

The stakes couldn't be higher as the final night of the 2025 Premier League Darts approaches on Thursday. After months of competition that began back in early February, the field of eight has been narrowed to four. Now, the season concludes in style at London’s O2 Arena, where the coveted title and major bragging rights are up for grabs.

Two of the four remaining contenders are no strangers to this stage. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries were also semifinalists last year, with Littler famously claiming the title in 2024 by defeating Humphries in a memorable final. That victory marked the teenage sensation’s first major title—and he now stands on the brink of defending it.

Once again, Littler and Humphries topped the table during the regular season, finishing first and second respectively. With the bracket set, another all-Luke final is very much on the cards.

Notably absent from this year's playoffs are Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith, who both reached the final four last year. This time, it’s Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price who complete the semifinal lineup.

From a statistical standpoint, Littler heads into the playoffs as the clear favourite. He leads virtually every key metric and appears well-positioned to retain his crown.

Littler has fired a remarkable 169 maximums this season—by far the most among the semifinalists. Humphries sits a distant second with 101, followed by Aspinall (93) and Price (71).

The 17-year-old also boasts the highest tournament average, a blistering 102.43—making him the only player in the playoffs to average over a ton. Humphries is close behind with 99.67, while Price (96.60) and Aspinall (95.70) trail further back. Interestingly, Aspinall’s average is the lowest of all eight players in the league this season, yet he’s still found a way into the final four.

Littler’s scoring power is equally dominant when looking at the first nine darts per leg. He leads the field with an average of 112.76, with Humphries next on 108.15. Price (104.96) and Aspinall (103.21) follow.

Finishing has traditionally been one of Aspinall’s strengths, but his checkout percentage in this year’s campaign doesn’t reflect that. ‘The Asp’ has hit just 38.41% of his doubles—only marginally better than Price’s 38.06%. Littler, once again, leads the pack here as well, checking out at an impressive 44.94%. Humphries is also performing well in this department, landing 41.11% of his finishing attempts.
