Still going strong, that term certainly applies to 71-year-old Paul Lim, who is still successful on the darts circuit despite his old age. Last weekend, the darter from Singapore already won his second Asian Tour title of the season, putting him well on his way to qualifying for the World Darts Championship again.
In December, Lim already showed well at Lakeside, where the WDF World Championship is played. There Lim reached the final, but now there is a good chance that 'The Singapore Slinger' will be back at the PDC World Championship. After twelve of the 24 Asian Tour tournaments, Lim is at the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
Statistics from FEBsDATA also show why Lim leads the rankings, beyond the fact that he has also won the most prize money of any Asian player in 2025. Indeed, on the Asian Tour 2025, Lim has already won 43 matches, which is eight more than number two Ryusei Azemoto. In addition, Keita Ono (33), Tomoya Goto (33) and Man Lok Leung (31) are the only other players with more than 30 wins.
Also looking at the level, Lim stands out. He threw an average of eighty or more in 41 matches, and no one on the Asian Tour imitates him either. Goto ranks second in this statistic with 35 averages above eighty.
Looking at averages above 90, Lim also scores well with sixteen 90+ averages. That number is surpassed only by Ryuta Arihara, who has only one more than Lim. For now, the highest average on the 2025 Asian Tour is by Azemoto, who posted a 111.83 average during the tenth event of the Asian Tour.
Should Lim actually manage to qualify for Alexandra Palace, it would already be his 29th World Championship appearance. He has played 12 BDO World Championships, 14 PDC World Championships, one senior World Championship and one WDF World Championship.
His best achievement is a final spot at the 2024 WDF World Championship, but Lim is best known for becoming the very first player ever to throw a nine-darter at a world championship in 1990. Even still, this is the only perfect leg ever thrown at Lakeside.
