Stephen Bunting is a World Series of Darts winner again. He has sealed the Nordic Darts Masters seeing off Rob Cross 8-4 in Copenhagen.
Bunting who had a poor end to the Premier League excelled in these events earlier in the season winning in Bahrain and now a fully fledged member of the World Series roster again, 'The Bullet' has proven his worth.
He saw off Cross who has been in the news this week for tax misdemeanours albeit he let his darts do the talking in the end losing in the final after a valiant run.
Bunting opened today with a 6-3 win over Jonny Clayton before surviving a last gasp comeback as ever from Nathan Aspinall to reach the final winning 7-5.
He was also aided by Cross's side of the draw also opening up. He beat Chris Dobey and then Gerwyn Price who saw off Luke Humphries. Luke Littler was downed by Aspinall in the Quarter-Finals.
It was early holds of throw as Bunting made it 1-1 hitting double 20. Cross hit 116 for 2-1 but Bunting held again for 2-2. 'The Bullet' hit 48 for it.
Cross held with a 70 checkout pinning double eight for 3-2. Bunting levelled at 3-3 though at the break.
Bunting pinned double 20 last dart for 4-3 and was throwing for a 5-3 lead. Cross missed the bull for 89 and Bunting hit 104 for 5-3.
Bunting hit double 16 for 6-3 to go two away from victory. He missed three at double 20 for 7-3 but returned to go one away. Bunting hit a 180 to leave 109 in case Cross didn't pin 61 to stay in it at 7-4.
He did stay in it as he held throw but it was all on Bunting's throw for the win or a break to add to Cross's cause.
