Martin Schindler has captured his third career European Tour title, with an impressive 8-4 victory over former European Championship winner Ross Smith in the final of the 2025 Austrian Darts Open in Graz on Sunday night.
'The Wall' opened his campaign in Graz on Saturday, with a comfortable win over England’s Matthew Dennant. Continuing his strong form into Sunday, Schindler first edged past Kevin Doets 6-5 in the third round, before he then overcame Premier League Darts star Chris Dobey 6-4 in the quarter-finals, and survived a thriller against Josh Rock 7-6 in the semi-finals.
In the final, the 28-year-old German produced a composed performance to ease past Smith, who is left still waiting for a first ever Euro Tour title win.
"I'm so happy, I fought my way through today," reflected the German number one in his post-match interview with the PDC immediately following the final."It may not have been great, but it was good enough in the end."
"The relief was huge when the match dart went in. When the game is over, only then can you let go of the tension and celebrate, that's exactly what I knew," he added. "I didn't want to celebrate too early either, but I won in the end, that's what counts."
The title is already Schindler’s second of 2025, following a title win on the Players Championship circuit earlier this year. As a result, he continues to rise up the darting ranks, now up to 18th place on the PDC Order of Merit — the highest position of his career so far.
The European Tour resumes next weekend with the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen, Germany. Gary Anderson returns as defending champion, having beaten Ross Smith 8-6 in last year’s final. Schindler is among the seeded players and will be aiming to secure back-to-back European Tour titles.

Steelers receive massive Aaron Rodgers injury update ahead of Bears game
On Monday, former NFL quarterback and current analyst Matt Hasselbeck insisted that Pittsburgh Steelers starter Aaron Rodgers could play with a small fracture in his left (non-throwing) wrist as long as Rodgers wouldn't need surgery to repair the issue. It seems Rodgers and the Steelers received a positive update regarding his health. Is Aaron Rodgers on track to start for Steelers at Bears? Late Tuesday morning, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported that Rodgers "will not need to undergo surgery to repair his fractured left wrist." Pelissero and Rapoport added that Rodgers "currently is pushing to" start for the 6-4 Steelers at the 7-3 Chicago Bears this coming Sunday but "will need clearance from doctors to be able to play." Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports shared that whether or not Rodgers will play against the Bears "will depend on [his] ability to take snaps under center and grip ability." "Really, it’s just about bracing it and securing it for his comfort and safety," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said about Rodgers' wrist while speaking with reporters on Tuesday afternoon, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. "And then it’s about how functional he is." Rodgers suffered his latest injury during Pittsburgh's 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday. Backup Mason Rudolph completed 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in the relief appearance. "I can’t say enough about Mason Rudolph," Tomlin said during his media availability on Tuesday. "Although we’re used to it, it’s appreciated. He’s proven over his time here, he’s capable of coming in and playing winning football for us." Why Aaron Rodgers may be hyped to face Bears Rodgers famously featured for the Green Bay Packers from 2005 through the 2022 season and has a long history of tormenting Chicago fans. Per NBC Chicago, he has accumulated a career 24-5 record against the Bears. He passed for 64 touchdowns with 10 interceptions against Chicago as a member of the Packers. During the 2021 season, Rodgers trolled Chicago fans regarding his dominance of their beloved team. Shortly after the latest Rodgers update surfaced, ESPN BET had the Steelers as three-point road underdogs against the Bears.
Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin breaks silence on reported ultimatum
The Ole Miss Rebels reportedly gave head coach Lane Kiffin a deadline of Nov. 28 to decide whether he wants to stay with the school. That was news to him. On Tuesday, Kiffin joined "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss his future. The coach is widely considered a top candidate for the head-coaching jobs with the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators. He denied that Ole Miss gave him an ultimatum, which Stewart Mandel of The Athletic first reported. Lane Kiffin calls report false "That's absolutely not true," Kiffin said. "There hasn't been anything like that at all. And so, I don't know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there." After denying the report, Kiffin reiterated how much he loves Oxford and said he's ecstatic the team is in the thick of the College Football Playoff Hunt. As of Tuesday, ESPN's Football Power Index gives the 10-1 Rebels an 89.1% chance to make the CFP, the third-best odds in the SEC behind the Georgia Bulldogs (9-1) and Texas A M Aggies (10-0). "Like I said, man, we're having a blast," he said. "It just couldn't be better. Like I said, you pray for things. Our fans prayed for this type of thing, and now we're in the middle of it. So, enjoy it." Is Lane Kiffin telling the truth? While the school may not have issued an ultimatum, ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported that Ole Miss is "pressing" Kiffin and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, to inform the school of his decision soon. Schlabach added that Rebels athletic director Keith Carter wants to know his plans by this upcoming weekend. Kiffin may be able to provide an answer soon. He has reportedly met with Florida and LSU. Kiffin may ultimately stay with Ole Miss, where he has compiled a 54-19 record in six seasons. He's already making $9M this season, and the Rebels are reportedly willing to match contract offers from LSU and Florida. Still, Kiffin should make it clear what he wants to do soon. The Rebels host the Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-6) in the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28. He doesn't want rumors about his future to distract his team, especially when it can get even closer to securing the school's first CFP berth in the upcoming rivalry game.
Youth movement: Five new players who should be part of Team USA basketball's future
A veteran-heavy USA Basketball squad took home a gold medal last summer in Paris. But their two biggest stars won't be returning. LeBron James and Steph Curry made it clear on the newest episode of "Mind The Game," James' podcast, that they wouldn't be part of Team USA in 2028. That leaves two big pairs of shoes to fill. In addition, the oft-injured Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis are unlikely to be back, Kevin Durant will be 39 in the summer of 2028, Jrue Holiday will be 38 and the national team will get younger. Here are five new players who should be part of Team USA going forward. 1. Amen Thompson, Houston Rockets There's always a spot on Team USA for a hard-nosed perimeter defender, and Amen Thompson is one of the toughest defenders in the NBA. He finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season and has upped his assists to 5.2 per game, making him the ideal player to slide into Holiday's stopper/ball handler role. Plus, Thompson is still only 22, which means he has plenty of international basketball ahead of him. And if Team USA needs another elite defender, he's got a connection with one on the Detroit Pistons — his brother Ausar Thompson. The only danger is if the Thompson twins decide to play for Jamaica instead. 2. Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons Cade Cunningham, 24, has experience with USA Basketball, winning a gold medal in 2019 at the FIBA U19 championships and leading the USA Select team to scrimmage upsets against the 2023 FIBA Cup team. He only turned down joining the main team because he was recovering from shin surgery. Now he's firmly established as an NBA star, averaging 27.5 points and 9.9 assists for the first-place Detroit Pistons. Not only is he scoring an distributing the ball at an elite level, Cunningham has excellent size at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds for the more physical international game. 3. Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder Team USA needs a rim protector, and they'd love to have one who can stretch the floor like Chet Holmgren. The 23-year-old is shooting 40.4 percent from three-point range this season and 59.1 percent overall while anchoring the NBA's No. 1 defense. Holmgren may not be best suited to banging with some of the huge big men he'd face in the Olympics, like Nikola Jokic and Alperen Sengun, but the threat of his shooting can draw these big men out of the paint and create driving lanes. Plus, he has three years to bulk up before the Los Angeles Olympics. 4. Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has turned into a legitimate three-point threat this season, sinking 1.7 threes per game, while remaining one of the NBA's best defenders. While Holmgren is more of a shot-blocker and rim protector, Evan Mobley, 24, has the speed and mobility to guard smaller players out on the perimeter, and the height and wingspan to bother big men. In addition, Mobley attended college at USC and high school in famed fight capital Temecula, so he'll be an excellent local choice. 5. Jalen Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder Jalen Williams, 24, is a bulldog defender who showed he can also be an elite big-game scorer during the Thunder's run to the title. Team USA plays best when they can pressure opposing teams defensively, and Williams has been great with that approach for OKC. Dallas Cowboys just got even better at a position they're already looking great at with latest roster move
Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Kenny Clark found the perfect word to describe the team's defensive tackles during the win over the Las Vegas Raiders: Nasty. It's easy to see why. Clark, Quinnen Williams, and Osa Odighizuwa combined for three sacks and nine quarterback hits. They made plays against the run, too, with three combined tackles for loss and a lot more plays invisible in the eyes of the stat sheet but important nevertheless. Odighizuwa and Williams led the NFL in PFF defensive grades for all defensive tackles for Week 11. It wasn't only nasty, it was scary. And believe it or not, that position group for the Cowboys just got better on Tuesday. The team announced its activated Perrion Winfrey from its Injured Reserve. Winfrey was a preseason standout not expected to make the 53-man roster when he was signed. However, his strong play everywhere on the defensive line earned him a spot on the team, though an injury delayed his season debut until now. In Week 12, he is set to officially join one of the best defensive tackle rooms in the NFL. The Cowboys waived LB Damone Clark to open up a roster spot. Winfrey's activation poses first-world problem for the Cowboys With Winfrey's activation, the Cowboys have six defensive tackles on the 53-man roster, which is considered on the higher side in the NFL. On a 48-man gameday roster, it's difficult to use six spots on defensive tackles. For reference, Dallas has listed at least one defensive tackle as an inactive player every week this season—most times as a healthy scratch. Before it was either Jay Toia or Mazi Smith. Now, the Cowboys might be forced to place Toia—a seventh-round rookie—on the inactives list but he's the only true nose tackle on the team. Even on Monday, he logged 13 defensive snaps. The alternative could be to place Winfrey in the inactives while the room remains healthy. Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has a tough decision to make.
