Night 14 of the 2025 Premier League Darts takes place this evening, with home favourite Luke Humphries set to face Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals in Leeds. Humphries, currently second in the table, is hoping to make the most of the local support.

On Thursday, he’ll wear a special, one-off shirt in tribute to his beloved football club, Leeds United. The shirt — in the club’s traditional yellow and blue — is inspired by this season’s Leeds away kit.

Speaking to talkSPORT about the design, Humphries explained: “It’s yellow and Leeds inspired. I always like to do a special version, I did one last year that was a retro one. It just feels yellow for Leeds this year, that’s why I went for this one and I’m quite happy with it."

His connection to Leeds runs deeper than just a shirt. In 2024, Humphries donated a signed match shirt to raise money for the Leeds Hospitals Charity, with the world number one even being named Luke because of his dad's love of the Elland Road club.

Reflecting on the recent buzz around the city following Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League, he added: “This year we won the league, there's been such a great party atmosphere over the last six to seven days. You've seen on Monday the incredible scenes with the parade. So I do feel like the whole city of Leeds is in a buzz at the moment. I'm hoping they're going to bring that on Thursday night and, you know, give me loads of support and I can sort of flourish on it and play well.”

Humphries faces a tough opening match against Michael van Gerwen, but he remains confident. "It's not an easy game for myself," he previews. "I've got a great winning record against him, but he's under a lot of pressure because he's fighting out for that fourth spot at the moment."

“I'm looking pretty decent for the O2 (finals) already. The only pressure on my shoulders will be the fact that obviously I want to do well in Leeds," Humphries concludes. “But winning that first game is pivotal for me because I just want to give the fans something to cheer about.”
